Job Description


Works closely with the staff to provide leadership, planning and implementation of
all of the camp’s programming. 


Duties: (percentages are estimates of a full time equivalent and will change as program does):


Program Management – 65%


  • Coordinate volunteers (work groups, individuals, summer groups)

  • Snow camp

  • Summer Camp (see below for details)

  • New Program Development and planning (can include summer and winter)

Opperations – 30%


  • Correspondence, calls and administration (camper parents, rentals, inquiries)

  • Facilities booking and management (very hands on – some cleaning, lots of coordination between groups and cleaning service)


Depending On Skills of Leadership Team and Volunteers (can be added or substituted)


  • Maintenance/ Volunteer Coordinating

  • Staffing

  • Newsletter/publications/marketing/web


Summer Camp - Give overall leadership to the program which includes:


  • Assist with recruiting summer staff

  • Plan and/or write Bible lessons

  • Lead summer staff orientation in correlation with Executive Director

  • Plan and lead the morning worship times

  • Meet with the camp cook regularly to plan and coordinate meals

  • Give direction to special programming such as theme nights

  • Plan, oversee and gather materials for the arts and crafts program

  • Direct the Counselor-In-Training program

  • Lead staff meeting and group building activities

  • Assist with the mid summer staff enrichment retreat

  • Make shelter assignments each week (could fall on assistant program director)

  • Prepare a weekly camp program schedule

  • Plan Interest group schedule (again, could be delegated)

  • Assist with the office services (registration etc.)

  • Relate to children with behavioral issues

  • Relate to staff to assure that everyone is physically, emotionally, and spiritually well to perform their daily tasks

  • Help with the cleaning and maintenance of the camp’s facilities

  • Oversee and/ or lead group game times (assistant program director)

  • Submit an end of summer report to executive director

  • Find camp shepherds

  • Volunteer scheduling


Snow Camp:


  • Coordinate meals.

  • Recruit volunteers to serve as counselors and cooks.

  • Get resource speaker or lead the sessions.

  • Line up a music person or lead music times.

  • Plan and prepare indoor and outdoor activities.

  • Lead cleaning of the cabin following each snow camp.


 
Qualifications This position requires vision, strong managerial skills, leadership, strong relational skills, energy, a strong Christian faith commitment (preferably an Anabaptist perspective), adaptability, a love for youth and a passion for ministry.
 
Compensation $22,000 - $25,000 - Commensurate with experience and ability.
